The regional Optimist Speech Contest was held this past Saturday. 2nd place: Tessa Mayne (MMS 7th). 3rd place: Faye Hornickel (MMS 6th). Tessa advances to state! Faye is the alternate. We are so proud of Tessa and Faye!

Today, MMS welcomed 200 guests into our building for our annual Leadership Day. It was a fantastic morning that highlighted the leadership skills of our students. This is the eleventh year MMS has been a Leader in Me school. Students learn to become great leaders at Maryville R-II!
Thanks to our wonderful staff for supporting this program and our students. A special thanks to Mrs. Nolte, Mrs. Webster, and Mrs. White for their hard work and preparation for today.

Congratulations to Eliana Wall on making it to the top eight spellers in the Northwest Missouri Regional Spelling Bee! She was one of the top spellers out of 71 schools! We are proud of you!

Congratulations to Lucy Stanton our MMS Staffer of the Year. Lucy does a fabulous job as our kitchen manager. She has created a positive culture for her staff, always has the serving line decorated, and holds fun competitions for our students. Well deserved, Lucy!
Congratulations to Jaclyn Smail our MMS Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Smail is an example of a teacher leader who goes above and beyond to help all students learn math! She is the first to volunteer for any school activity and creates a fun environment. Congratulations, Mrs. Smail!

MMS held their annual school spelling bee today. Joey Kessler is walking away the Champion and Eliana Wall the Runner-Up! Congratulations to all of our contestants on making it this far. We are proud of you!
Due to dangerous road conditions, Maryville R-II Schools will be closed today 1/23/24 for in-person learning. This will be an AMI day for students and staff.
Classes for the Maryville R-II School District have been canceled for Friday 1/20/24. No remote learning.
